Montblanc 4810 Westside Black Mystery introduces the Manhattan Bag

The filigree, engraved motif inspired by the shimmering lights of a nighttime Manhattan skyline became an iconic pattern when it first appeared upon Montblanc StarWalker Black Mystery writing instruments. Hailed for the purity of its style, contemporaneity and sophistication, the dynamic linear design will enhance the modernized 4810 Westside Black Mystery collection which will be launched in July 2010 along with the star of the range – the Montblanc Manhattan Bag.

Refining the Art of Doing Business

This lustrous, jet-black calfskin briefcase has been created to enhance the art of doing business, just as the Montblanc StarWalker Black Mystery line proved a spectacular development in the "art of writing". And like StarWalker Black Mystery, the Montblanc Manhattan Bag features an elegant slim-line silhouette while, similarly, its look shares the characteristics of the extraordinary writing instruments - namely exceptionality, dynamism and functionality. These, too, are traits which evoke Manhattan, the notoriously bustling borough of New York City after which this special limited edition is named and renders inspiration. Manhattan also reigns as one of the world's greatest commercial, financial and cultural capitals, and so, the Manhattan Bag was conceived by Montblanc’s Paris design team as a "mobile office" which meets the business needs of an onthe- move professional, no matter their métier.

Complimenting the look of the filigree laser-engraved Mystery pattern is another specially conceived motif. Depicting a map of old Manhattan, this artisanal abstract modern print appears upon soft Jacquard lining the Manhattan Bag and from it are also made two protective sleeves. One is designed to hold a laptop. The other is for computer tools, such as a power cable or a mouse. Both sleeves are held securely in place by two black calfskin straps inside the Manhattan Bag's main compartment which also features a file to hold an A4 notebook.

Enigmatic, Exceptional, Inimtably Montblanc

The Manhattan Bag exemplifies the enigmatic spirit of Montblanc StarWalker Black Mystery because of its spaciousness, which belies its trim form. And so its clever design conceals a multitude of handy compartments. Within a sleek section there is a pair of black calfskin trimmed interior pockets into which two A4 notebooks can be slipped. Another outside pocket holds two small notepads. An additional zippered compartment is equipped with 12 leather pen loops while a detachable metal pendant suspended from the Manhattan Bag's glossy calfskin handle stores a paper address tag or, alternatively, an ink cartridge. Inimitably Montblanc, these accoutrements highlight the importance of writing. "Consciously taking time in this fast moving world to send a handwritten greeting", is a saying guiding the meticulous design process at Montblanc.

Inside the Manhattan Bag, an engraved plate features the number of every model of this limited edition, which is restricted to 75 pieces. Meanwhile, aspects of the Manhattan Bag's outstanding design - including the mystery pattern embossed on metallic grey 4810 Westside leather, the map print lining and the concealed compartments - define the look of the updated Montblanc 4810 Westside Black Mystery leather goods collection. The striking pendant also adorns the 4810 Westside Black Mystery Document Case, which along with a Messenger Bag and Camera Bag, is one of four large items featured in the 4810 Westside Black Mystery collection. The three small leather good pieces featured in this range include two wallets plus a business card holder.

The 4810 Westside Black Mystery collection and the Manhattan Bag will be available in select Montblanc boutiques worldwide from July 2010.
