A new Weekender - the stand-out limited edition travel bag from Meisterstück Soft, Montblanc’s latest collection of men’s leather goods - will debut in July 2010. Predominantly conceived from Italian lambskin and lined with natural hair, this alluring combination of luxuriant, natural materials exemplifies the sumptuousness defining men’s fashion. On the most directional autumn/winter 2010 runways, suede appeared as a chic alternative to leather. Its appeal is a butter-soft touch belying its durability and resilience while shearling and lambskin - from which the currently stylish aviator jacket is traditionally made - evoke travel and adventure. These are the purposes for which the Montblanc Meisterstück Soft Weekender has been exceptionally handcrafted. This sleek, lightweight travel bag is the perfect holdall for a jaunt around town, an overnight trip or a journey abroad.

Cutting Edge Couture Quality

Montblanc's design team in Paris originally conceived the Weekender to lend a cutting-edge spirit to Montblanc Meisterstück Soft Collection, which features a range of bags for business, city and travelling, designed to meet the demands of the active professional. Now, the functional yet elegant Weekender for 2010 will appear with a new fleet of Meisterstück Soft models - including the sharp Double Gusset Briefcase and the Camera Bag. While the Weekender features design hallmarks which embellish these Meisterstück Soft bags, including a curvaceous form accentuating the ease and effortlessness inherent to the collection - couture-calibre design details allude to the custom-made quality of this rarified limited edition.

Like a lavish fur collar, for example, accents of the fluffy shearling lining peep from the Weekender’s interior, softly adorning its top, opposite sides with a sartorial flourish. And while the graphic diamond pattern emblazoned upon the Weekender's front is inspired by Meisterstück Soft’s fine leather mesh accents it also brings to mind the sort of superlative hand-crafted material utilized in the making of bespoke men's suits. Exemplifying this tailor-made feeling is a zipfastening pocket, which is discreetly concealed by the Weekender's front flap.

The glossy finish of Italian full-grain Nubuck calfskin contrasts beautifully with the Weekender's matte suede. The rounded handles, along with the shoulder strap joining them as a comfortable grip, have also been made from this slick, polished leather, and so has the piping adorning the Weekender's flap along with the trim reinforcing its side and bottom. Also enhancing the Weekender's uniquely sculpted form are palladium-plated metal buckles. A pair gather its sides while a front closure buckle safely fastens the flap. Its silver loop is subtly embellished with Montblanc's black and white resin star emblem. This six-pronged symbol honors the awe-inspiring glacier-covered summit of Europe's highest mountain after which Montblanc is named.

Inside the spacious Weekender, Montblanc's signature "M" pattern brown Jacquard reinforces the sheepskin lining which also features a spacious zip-fastening pocket plus a metal plate engraved with its limited edition number.

Limited Edition Masterpiece Merely

50 Weekenders will be available worldwide. Twenty-five will appear in rich, chocolate brown while another twenty-five have been created in sand, an attractive and timely honey-beige hue. Both colours are utterly versatile and also coordinate beautifully with khaki and the stylish military shades currently predominating men's wear.
"Meisterstück" means masterpiece and it is the name that was applied to the first fountain pen created by Montblanc in 1924. The celebrated Meisterstück writing instrument remains a global icon which is sought after by connoisseurs and lifelong collectors. The distinctive Weekender, along with its "family" of Meisterstück Soft leather goods, are similarly conceived for the discerning individual and set to endure as indispensable, elegant must-haves.
